Meet the Metal Morphosis Team: Melanie: Expertise Behind the Needle

Hi! My name is Melanie, I'm a Piercer and Assistant Manager at Metal Morphosis, I've been doing piercings for three years now! I've always been fascinated with piercings from an early age, I got my tongue pierced and other facial piercings at the age of sixteen, and from there I was always passionate but never really thought of it as a job!

When I moved to London I realised I wanted to do something else with my life instead of working in hospitality. So I began a piercing apprenticeship, and I simply fell in love, seeing the smile on the clients face, making bodies more beautiful and understanding that I'm making a difference in these people's lives.

I enjoy so many types of piercing, but I’ll try to name my favourites:

The ones I love the most are cheek dermals, they’ve been super popular lately and look great with flat gems or opals.

Anything symmetrical ie: double piercings - as it's always so satisfying when you get them spot on.

I'm currently obsessed with performing stacked lobes! They’re little piercings that add so much to an ear curation.

I would say any lip piercings I love, love, love to do too! With a philtrum piercing it puts a sparkle to your lips, I feel that when people are insecure about their lips a philtrum is always a nice choice to pick, as you can go with small jewellery or even big!

Conch is one of my favourite ear piercings, if you don't know what to get a conch is always the answer, it brings the ear curation all together, its also a very fun one to do, you also have a huge variety of stunning jewellery to put in a conch from rings, clusters, chains, dainty jewellery and so many more!

Now for bridges, what can I say? This is a huge statement of a piercing, of course it's very anatomy dependent- but if you have the right anatomy  you'll be rocking this piercing. It is difficult to mark, and that's where most of our time goes in the appointment, but once it's done it's a fun one to do.

My favourite jewellery has to be the 14 kt gold Sacred Heart from Junipurr, with some fine details of white gold showing on the thorns and I think this jewellery would fit perfectly on a faux rook.

My second favourite is thePur from Buddha which is a small dainty jewellery that would sit perfectly in a tragus.

Now my favourite chain is going to be theVanja - this is just a stunner, it would sit perfectly in a conch or even attaching it in a scaffold.
